Sally Novak is an award winning Brooklyn-based artist. Born on the West Coast, she was based for many years in San Diego, California represented by Galleria Dos Damas before moving to New York City in 2004.

Her work explores the intricate relationship between memory, place, and the pressing realities of the climate crisis through both deconstructed landscapes and figurative narratives. Drawing from personal experiences—from cross-country travels and past residences to road trips through the Pacific Southwest—her abstracted forms in acrylic on paper evoke the emotional resonance of these environments.

Concurrently, her figurative acrylic on canvas series delves into the profound connections between bodies of water, family and friends. As a former competitive swimmer, water has always been a significant element in her life. This series began during the pandemic as a way to explore these deeply personal themes and their universal echoes. Through these varied approaches, she aims to create work that resonates with viewers' own experiences of place and memory, inviting reflection on our shared world.
